5D Smile Design is our name for a digital planning workflow, not a separate machine. Five records are combined into one 3D model of your face and teeth: a CBCT scan of bone and tooth roots, a RayFace 3D facial scan, a TRIOS 5 intraoral scan, photographs, and video. On that model Dr. Fatima places and adjusts proposed tooth shapes, sizes and positions, and you review the smile design before treatment begins. It is a simulation of the plan on your own face, not a photograph of the finished treatment.

The RayFace 3D facial scan and comprehensive digital records are included as standard in our Signature New Patient Visit ($149). CBCT cone beam imaging is performed when clinically indicated for complex cases such as implant planning, and the cost is discussed transparently before the scan. Diagnostic components such as exams and X-rays are often covered by dental plans; we confirm your benefits after you book, when your appointment forms come back.

The RayFace facial scan uses ordinary light, like a camera, with no radiation, and the TRIOS 5 intraoral scanner also uses only light. The one record that involves radiation is the CBCT, a low-dose scan taken for implant planning and when a case needs it, not at every visit; see the CBCT question below for how its dose compares.

The facial scan takes about half a second, the CBCT about five seconds, and the intraoral scan two to three minutes. The software aligns the records in under two minutes, so the model can be reviewed with you during the same consultation.

Yes, as a design. Because the model is built from your own face and teeth, proposed tooth shapes, sizes and positions can be placed on it and adjusted while you watch, and you can compare more than one design. It is a simulation of the plan, not a photograph of the finished treatment, and the final appearance depends on your case.

The TRIOS 5 records tooth surfaces in high resolution and the CBCT records bone and roots in 3D. When the records are aligned, the combined fit is about 0.2–0.3 mm, which is the precision implant planning and smile design call for.

No. The same records are used to plan implants and to check how your teeth meet. Which records are taken depends on your case: everyday visits use digital X-rays and intraoral scans, and the CBCT is added for implant planning and when a case needs it.

Yes. We can export images or a short video of the simulation so you can show it at home, get a second opinion, or take time before deciding on a treatment plan.

Yes. Our RAY Vision 16 CBCT system uses ultra-low radiation, significantly less than a traditional full-mouth series of X-rays, while providing far more diagnostic information. The radiation from a dental CBCT scan is comparable to about one to three weeks of natural background radiation exposure.

The RayFace is a 3D facial scanner that captures your full face in under 0.5 seconds, creating a photorealistic 3D model. We use it to design your smile in the context of your actual facial features, so proposed veneers, implants, or aligner positions are planned against your lips and face. You review the smile design, as a simulation, before treatment begins.

Rarely. Our TRIOS 5 intraoral scanner creates accurate digital impressions in minutes, replacing traditional putty impressions that many patients find uncomfortable. Digital impressions are more accurate, faster to process, and avoid the mess and gagging associated with traditional impression materials.

Every operatory at Innova Smiles has an A-dec 500 chair, a long-established name in dental equipment. They include memory foam cushioning that contours to your body, ergonomic lumbar support, and smooth hydraulic positioning. Many dental chains use commodity-grade chairs; ours are built for comfort even during longer procedures like implant placement or full-mouth restoration.

Yes. We use electric-motor handpieces instead of the traditional air-driven instruments found in most offices. Electric handpieces run up to 50% quieter, produce significantly less vibration, and deliver consistent torque for more precise, conservative treatment, all of which make your experience noticeably more comfortable.
