Who Is a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the most-recommended option for replacing missing teeth, but not every patient is an immediate candidate. Our candidacy quiz evaluates the key factors that determine implant eligibility:

  • Number of missing teeth, single tooth, multiple teeth, or full arch
  • Jawbone density, whether bone grafting may be needed
  • Current dental situation, dentures, failing teeth, or recent extractions
  • Treatment goals, eating comfort, aesthetics, preventing bone loss

Implant Options at Innova Smiles

Dr. Fatima is a fellowship-trained implant dentist (FICOI) offering single-tooth implants, implant-supported bridges, and All-on-4 full-mouth restoration. Every case begins with 3D CBCT imaging for precision-guided placement.

After taking the quiz, you can estimate your implant cost or book a free implant consultation.

Dental Implant Candidacy FAQ

Am I a good candidate for dental implants?
Most adults with missing or failing teeth are candidates for dental implants. Ideal candidates have adequate jawbone density, healthy gums, and are in generally good health. Even patients with bone loss may qualify with bone grafting. Conditions like uncontrolled diabetes or heavy smoking may require additional evaluation. Our quiz screens for the most common eligibility factors in 60 seconds.
Can I get dental implants if I have bone loss?
Yes. Bone loss does not automatically disqualify you from dental implants. Procedures like bone grafting, sinus lifts, and zygomatic implants can rebuild the jawbone to support implants. At Innova Smiles, Dr. Fatima uses 3D CBCT imaging to assess bone volume precisely and determine the best approach for your case.
How many teeth can dental implants replace?
Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, several teeth with an implant-supported bridge, or an entire arch with All-on-4 full-mouth restoration. The number of implants needed depends on how many teeth are missing and the condition of your jawbone. Our quiz helps determine which solution matches your situation.
Are dental implants better than dentures?
Dental implants offer several advantages over traditional dentures: they prevent bone loss, feel and function like natural teeth, never slip or require adhesive, and can last a lifetime. However, dentures may be appropriate for some patients based on health, budget, or preference. Our implant quiz can help you compare your options.
What disqualifies you from getting dental implants?
Very few conditions permanently disqualify patients from implants. Temporary disqualifiers include uncontrolled gum disease (treatable) and active cancer treatment with IV bisphosphonates like zoledronic acid (timing consideration). Most other medications, including oral bisphosphonates for osteoporosis, are compatible with implant treatment. Age alone is not a disqualifier, patients in their 80s successfully receive implants. Our quiz identifies potential concerns so your consultation is more productive.
